As ministers of the Pastoral Care Commission, we are dedicated disciples of the Gospel, identifying with Christ in the many passages of our lives. Our mission calls us to listen, care, support, share and pray with those in our community who are in need of the pastoral ministries.
Definition
The definition of Pastoral Care is how we, individually and collectively, compassionately reach out to one another in the name of
Christ physically, emotionally and spiritually. When we sit and listen and offer support to someone who has lost a spouse, when we take time to be with someone who is hospitalized, provide a meal for a family in need or pray with someone who is feeling low or desperate - that is the moment “Hope” comes alive -- that is Jesus.
This is Pastoral Care.
Filled With Dreams
Holy Spirit's Medical Mission Team has finally returned from the medical mission trip to Quito, Ecuador. This was our third trip to serve the people of the North Hills. From July 16-23, we saw 377 people and provided them with much needed medication. All of our resources of $6,000 in medication and supplies were well received at the St. Charles Borromeo clinic where we worked 10 hours per day, for five days.
If we were going to get it done, now was the time to get busy doing it. If we wanted to experience the culture, provide care and help move the clinic into a more sustainable state, now was the time to fully commit to making it happen.
The team would like to thank everyone who supported us monetarily and prayerfully. We certainly could not do this kind of work without your support.
Watch for future bulletin articles with pictures of the trip and a special fundraising raffle in October with great prizes.
If you have any questions about our medical mission trips, please contact Kathy Ford, RN/parish nurse, at 630.922.0081, ext. 28.

Minister of Care Needs You!
Are you aware that Holy Spirit has a Minister of Care program where trained volunteers from the parish make communion calls to homes and hospitals in the area?
“Take and eat; this is my body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me."
1 Cor 11:24
Through receiving the Eucharist, Christ becomes one with us physically and spiritually. What a “grace-filled moment” to be the vehicle by which those who are sick are able to receive the Eucharist and experience healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
Holy Spirit Catholic Community is dedicated to serving the needs of the parish, even those who are not visible at weekend liturgies. If you are looking to volunteer in a capacity that is both worthwhile and fulfilling, are comfortable sharing your faith and willing to make a communion visit to someone in their home, then Ministers of Care is just what you are looking for!
For answers to questions or more information, please contact Steve Boffa or
