The Worship Commission serves to encourage participation and foster spiritual growth of the faith community through education, celebration and worship.
What is a liturgy?
“The common sense of the word liturgy restricts it to the chief official service only -- the Sacrifice of the Holy Eucharist, which in our rite we call the Mass. The Mass is the complex of prayers and ceremonies that make up the service of the Eucharist in the Latin rites. As in the case of all liturgical terms the name is less old than the thing. From the time of the first preaching of the Christian Faith in the West, as everywhere, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated as Christ had instituted it at the Last Supper, according to His command, in memory of Him. But it was not till long afterwards that the late Latin name Missa, used at first in a vaguer sense, became the technical and almost exclusive name for this service.”
Swine Influenza A (H1N1)
Ministers of the Eucharist will cleanse their hands prior to the distribution of the Eucharist.
We will be giving people the personal option of receiving the Blood of Christ but beginning Sunday, October 25 we will be limiting the number of cups due to the lower number of people receiving during the Flu Season.
For more information on how the Catholic Church is responding to the transmission of swine influenza A (H1N1), visit the USCCB Web site.
